LOCAL BUSINESS RAISES £5,855 FOR WATFORD MENCAP

Car dealership Crown Honda has put the cherry on top of their ambitious fundraising campaign for Watford Mencap by presenting the local charity with a cheque for £5,855.

The money raised from various initiatives including a Race Night and generous donations from staff members, customers and a huge contribution from Ladbrokes Charitable Trust, will enable five children with learning disabilities to attend Watford Mencap's After School Club for one day a week for a whole year.

Watford Mencap's Children's Centre is the only facility in the area that provides an After School Club for children with learning disabilities. Attending the club affords 5 to 19 year olds the opportunity to make friendships and learn vital skills in a supportive environment where they feel comfortable. For many parents, this facility is a lifeline.

Without Watford Mencap I'd be in trouble. They are my life and my son's life. If it was not here part of my life would be taken away', says one parent.

Amanda Jenshil, Community Fundraiser says, 'Working with Crown Honda has been an enjoyable and highly successful partnership for Watford Mencap. We rely on local businesses in our local community to help us fund vital services which include our Children's Centre.

Having used Watford Mencap's services in the past, Lee Monahan, co-Managing Director at Crown Honda, understands that the work they do and the support they provide to families of children with learning disabilities is invaluable.

I'm so thrilled that Crown Honda was able to make a contribution that will enable Watford Mencap to keep their services running. I'm also delighted that so many local businesses and sponsors came forward to help out with raffle prizes and race sponsorship, especially Ladbrokes shop in South Oxhey and the Ladbrokes Charitable Trust', says Mr Monahan.
