Danny Delucia Memorial Award October 2021

Danny Delucia worked as a Sales Executive at Crown Honda Bushey Heath for nearly 20 years until he tragically lost his life to cancer in October 2020 at the age of 51.

Danny was a legend in the Honda UK network and held numerous records and titles for being the top salesman in the country and at the same time always giving the very highest level of customer service.

Earlier this year we asked for suggestions from the team at Crown for ideas to help us to remember our great friend and colleague Danny and it was from there that the idea was born for “The Danny Delucia Memorial Award”.

The winner would be voted for by the staff and would be for a team member that had done something exceptional. Why exceptional? That’s simple, it’s a word that encapsulates what Danny was all about. For 20 years he was exceptional in everything he did. Secondly, because the word can relate to literally anything we do, from fundraising to customer care, to achieving your personal goals to an extraordinary act of kindness. Anything that is viewed as exceptional could earn you a nomination for this award.

The first winner was announced on Thursday 7th October, which marked the first anniversary of Danny’s passing.

To make the presentation, Danny’s wife Carmen and two Children were in attendance at the Bushey- Heath Showroom along with the whole of the Crown team. The winner was , Sharon Boreham our showroom receptionist from Crown Honda Hendon.

She was the clear winner for a number of reasons. She has never been late or had a day off sick in 13 years. Her customer service skills are in a word “amazing”. In fact we have even had customers changing the date of their service bookings, when they find she is off on holiday that week. And lastly, throughout the COVID period, Sharon did the work of two people by covering the phone reception for both dealerships.

Sharon was thrilled but utterly surprised when she found out that she was the inaugural winner of “The Danny Delucia Memorial Award”.

Sharon later added “Danny was a superstar and to be the first winner of this award is something I will always cherish. We all miss him every day, but this award helps in keeping his memory and legacy alive”.
