Honda e:Ny1 is set to be the second pure-electric car in Honda's European lineup, following the urban EV Honda e. It will look to appeal to a broader spectrum of buyers when it goes on sale in 2023.
The Honda e:Ny1 Prototype is a new Honda SUV that is set to go on sale in Autumn 2023 and will be the second EV in Honda's line-up slotting in on top of the Honda e hatchback. Price for the Honda e:Ny1 is yet to be confirmed.
The Honda e:Ny1 Prototype previews an SUV that's designed to appeal to families as a spacious and efficient crossover. The new SUV will be around the size of a Honda HR-V.
The early images shared by Honda show a car with raised suspension and rugged wheel arch trims. The other feature of note in these early designs is a very on trend rear light bar which spans across the boot.
The e:Ny1's short bonnet is made possible by its compact electric motor while you can expect it to have aerodynamic-friendly features like a bluff nose, flat underside and a boot-mounted spoiler to improve efficiency.
Expect the interior of the e:Ny1 to feel spacious and airy thanks to not needing a gear stick. The e:Ny1 will have a minimalistic floating centre console that will feature the very latest in automotive tech. Honda is likely to give its new crossover a large centre infotainment screen that means the interior won't be awash with buttons, but we can bet of Honda keeping the most important tactile buttons for practicality. Behind the steering wheel another high resolution display will take the place of conventional dials.
Expect the e:Ny1 SUV to have room for tall adults in the front and the back, and to be packed full of Honda's family-friendly features.
The new Honda e:Ny1 SUV has been built from scratch as a fully electric vehicle. You can expect it to have a powerful battery that would give it a competitive range on a single charge. Performance is likely to be from 0-60mph in less than nine seconds thanks to its advance electric motor which will offer instant power.
You can expect it to come with a full suite of that latest technology and Honda autonomous driving modes. Thanks to its single gear drive mode, it will feel just like an automatic making it at home in the city. The e:Ny1 will also include regenerative brakes, which slows the car automatically when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal to slightly recharge the battery whilst driving. The e:Ny1 will also include silent running due to the lack of an internal combustion engine.
The Honda e is the only electric car Honda currently sells in the UK, although it will soon be joined by a production version of the Honda e:Ny1, which will be the company's second EV.
The new Honda e:Ny1 is set to be released in the UK Autumn 2023 and will be available to test drive from Crown Honda Bushey Heath & Hendon around that time.
