Local car dealer goes the extra mile

Richard Carter, local car dealer at Crown Honda in Hendon, will be running the London Marathon in April this year, aiming to raise a whopping £6000 for Phab Kids.

The sales executive was motivated after the passing of his brother, 18 months ago, who suffered from cerebral palsy. Phab Kids played a vital role in helping support Richard and his family during their difficult time and Richard would like to repay some of the kindness shown by the charity.

The first Phab project began in 1957, and for nearly 60 years, the charity has encouraged and supported children and adults with and without disabilities to make more of life and come together on equal terms. There are over 170 Phab clubs with 8,000 members in all age ranges from under eights to over 80’s right across England and Wales.

Carter commented: "It's an amazing charity that I'm so proud to have been chosen to represent. We all have personal stories of both the young and old being affected by disabilities and you can't help but be moved and touched by the stories of resilience and love from beneficiaries of the charity.

“It is a big fund-raising target I'm aiming for but this will make a huge difference. Any amount, no matter how small, will mean the world to me personally and to the charity. Together, I know we can smash the target and then it’s just down to on me to deliver on the running!"

The Virgin Money London Marathon will be taking place on Sunday 23 April. Crown Honda has promised to give £100 from every car sold on the day of the marathon to the charity.
